Skimble was distracted from his reflections by Leathik's teeth closing around his claws. "Ouch!" He watched the kitten for a moment, its tail lashing from side to side playfully. "You have a one-track mind, don't you?" the Railway Cat asked, though not without a half-smile. "If you could let go of my paw, I would be very grateful. I do have a job to do..."

"Mew!"
He had to agree as he let go of the grown cat's paw, and he landed on the ground. Leathik grinned like a Cheshire kitten would while his round, black eyes showed his amusement. He finally caught the paw, and he could now bask in the warmth of his accomplishment... even if Skimble had to go do a job soon.

Skimble stood up and brushed his train vest off, examining his paw but finding no lasting damage. "All right. Now, we're on a mission," he told the kitten, "a mission to find your brother and his friends. Would you be willing to help me with that?" he smiled. As a kitten, Leathik wouldn't be able to do much, except perhaps recognize his brother's scent. And it certainly couldn't hurt to have someone accompanying Skimble as he looked...

Or, maybe he could go on the job with Skimble! The kitten was invited anyways, to help look for his brother and his littermates. Auntie Bomba had some missing, and his brother went with them, too. Could he find them? He hoped he could! He saw the cat's train vest, looking at it curiously for a moment.
The moment quickly passed before he looked back at a small pile of trinket boxes that the kitten could only fit his head into. Could they be in there? He started to wander to them, sniffing at them. "Meew?" he blinked, and he leaned forwards... to only manage to get his kittenhead stuck in one of the boxes. He wriggled back, trying to get it off his head.

"Leathik?"
Skimble turned around just in time to see the kitten get his head stuck in one of the trinket boxes. The Railway Cat rolled his eyes. Really, this kitten was (almost) more accident-prone than the others. Skimble shook his head, then leaned down and tugged on the box. "C'mon, you. Out of there, now..."

A kitten's mewl of relief came out when the box was pulled off his head. He shook it a bit, and he twitched his ears before batting at the cardboard thing that trapped his head before. Nope, there were no kittens there. Leathik sniffed a little more, wondering if he could pick up anything with his nose. Nope, no scents.

Skimble set down the box and watched Leathik twitching his nose. He seemed unable to find anything, though, so the Railway Cat decided to try a new tactic. "Leathik," he asked, "can you remember where you were when you last saw them? Can you lead me there?" I hope he understands this...

"Meeeeewwwwww..."
The long, long kitten mew seemed a bit strained. Leathik sat down, quirking his head to the right with a little frown. Where else did Skimble expect him to see his brother and littermates but by Bomba's side before they disappeareded. His tail twitched just a little impatiently. Can't they find them noooow?

"They must have been with Bomba..." Skimble muttered, thinking, before noticing that Leathik seemed a bit confused. And impatient. "Well," Skimble tried to explain, "We can't exactly find them if we don't know where to look, can we?"

The kitten mewled and shook his head. Of course not. After a moment, he shook his head again. There was nothing to go off of that he knew of, and he started to smell something... A creamy substance, squirted forth from a certain four-footed beast that could easily crush him. Cream! His whiskers quivered and his tail twitched back and forth... but where was it?

"Leathik?" Skimble asked again. The kitten's attention seemed to be wandering, and the Railway Cat's heart lifted: Could he be picking up the scent of one of the kittens? Skimble watched Leathik sniff around, looking interested. "What is it?" he asked the kitten. "What's caught your interest?"

-Sniff, sniff, sniff...-
"Mew!" He perked up, his ears standing up on end before he started to run. His little kitty legs carried him as fast as he could towards a partly opened door... The stationmaster's office. Bouncing impatiently on his paws, the little kitten could see the bowl of cream from where he was. It was set on the edge of the desk, where Skimble could easily get up to. It was his cream dish, after all.

Skimble tore after Leathik, barely daring to hope that he had found something ... which was a good decision, actually, because the only think the kitten had scented was Skimble's dish of cream. Skimble looked up at it, then back to Leathik, and said resignedly, "You want some, don't you?"

Of course, the kitten mewled and nodded. His little tummy let out a kitten's growl. He had no way of getting up there, so he looked at Skimble with his wide kitten eyes.

Skimble nodded. "All right..." The kitten did look a little hungry, after all. "Stay here," said the Railway Cat, before jumping gracefully onto the stationmaster's desk and padding over to the bowl. He thought a moment, and had an idea: turning, he knocked a book off the desk; it landed at Leathik's feet. "There. Can you get up here if you jump on that first? Give it a try. Be careful," he added.
