(Hope I'm doing this right...)
((Characters: Skimble, Leathik))
((Thread summary: After an unsuccessful talk with Quaxo, in which he fails to discover the cause for Tumble's emotion, Skimbleshanks looks through the station for the kittens. He finds one, but not the one he intended - Leathik.))
(I think, to be safe, we'll say this doesn't take place in the game for now. It could, though. We'll see...)

Skimbleshanks strolled swiftly down the corridors of the station. His outward composure was calm, but inside, a whirlwind of questions were forming in his mind. Something was definitely wrong between Tumble and Quaxo, and neither of them, to the Railway Cat's frustration, were willing to shed any light on the matter. Skimble loved his son dearly and it hurt him to see that he couldn't help him with this. In his fury, Skimble wasn't exactly paying much attention to which way he was going...

Skimbleshank's non-attention soon got the worst of his paws, as a tiny pair of them soon latched onto his right large paw. A mewl of delight was accompanied by a long stare up, where the largest of black kitten eyes gazed up at the Railway cat. Leathik, the little kitten that was among the still known to be there, had a smile on his face. The kitten's little pinpricks of claws had a little hold of his prize, while his red and black tail flicked from side to side.

Skimble blinked, then looked down, at the kitten that was currently fiercely attached to his paw. His frustration melted away as he looked at Leathik's innocent eyes. Gently he wrestled his paw out of the kitten's grasp. "Hello there," the Railway Cat said softly. "What's your story?"

"Mew?"
The little kitten looked up at Skimble in confusion. What was a story? His claws slowly retracted from the cat's paw as it was wrestled from his grasp. Leathik's nose twitched, and his tail flicked again to the side as he tilted his head to the left.

Skimble stared down in some puzzlement at the small kitten, before realizing that it was undoubtedly unable to speak just yet, and probably hadn't understood a word he had just said. Sighing, Skimble said, "All right. Well, do you have a name? Can you tell me that, at least? Your name?"

"L...L..."
His tongue rolled uselessly at this before he shook his head. Leathik resorted to mewling again, but he smiled. His little self looked down at the paw he once held, and he tapped it once. Who was he, the owner of the paw he pounced?

Skimble sighed again, before saying, "All right. L." He sat back and thought for a few moments. Were there any "L's" in the tribe? He could recall only one, and looked back down at the kitten, who was gazing at him with curious, bright eyes and tapping his paw. The Railway Cat smiled. "I'm Skimbleshanks." He raised a paw and stroked the kitten's head. "What about you? Are you ... Leathik?"

At the recognition of his name, a brighter sound came from the kitten.
"Mew!"
His eyes lit up with the joy of being recognized, and his tail was almost wagging like a dog's tail from the feeling. The tiniest of purrs came from him while his head was being stroked, and his eyes half-closed. His prize was petting him... What more could he want?

Skimble laughed as the kitten's eyes brightened. So this was Leathik. "Well," the Railway Cat acknowledged, "you're certainly a smart one." He noticed the kitten's expression and grinned. "You know, my paw doesn't exactly belong to you..."

Leathik looked up at Skimble with his half-lidded eyes. The paw wasn't his? Then again, that paw -was- attached to the orange cat. The kitten nodded sheepishly, though he grabbed up at the cat's paw quickly again, to see if he could manage to get another grip on it.

Skimble laughed again and pulled his paw out of reach of the kitten's batting claws. "I'll take that, thank you." He looked at Leathik briefly before relenting. "Oh, why not?" He held his paw over the kitten's head. "You do seem to be in a playful mood..."

Mewling in discontent as the paw was moved from him, the kitten frowned. How dare the paw move? How dare it-- Oh, it's coming back! His paws were still clasped together as Skimble placed it close to his head again. A smile formed as he tried to clasp at it again.

As Leathik leaped for his paw, Skimble pulled it away again. "Careful!" He petted the kitten's head and back again and hoped it wouldn't twist around and grab the paw that it seemed to so desperately want.
Skimble's mood soon grew solemn, however, as he gazed at the playful kitten - who had reminded him of someone. "I wish you could speak," he murmured. "Maybe you could help us find out what happened to your brother..."

The little kitten mewled again, looking up at the arm. Could he get there another way? He was about to move again when Skimble mentioned about his brother. This made him stop before he visibly drooped a little bit. His brother had been missing, and everyone was looking for Simeon and the other missing kittens, but he now had Skimbleshanks and his paw to play with.
While the Railway Cat grew solemn, an insistent mewl came from Leathik as he leaped to get a hold of the orange cat's paw.
