Tumble nodded and grinned. If Alonzo was going to take a second bite, he could too. He wriggled happily as he chewed, trying to make the food last as long as possible. "Munkustrap will be pleased with us... and Quaxo too." His face fell slightly, and he busied himself with pushing stray bits of fish back into the packet, not looking at his brother. Quaxo...

Alonzo looked at his brother curiously. He had seen Tumble hanging out with Quaxo more, but hadn't asked too in-depth about the relationship... he'd been busy catching up on what a Protector was supposed to do, but he figured now was as good a time as any to catch up on his brother's personal life. "Quaxo, huh?" He asked slyly. "You two...?"

"No," Tumble said shortly, squishing a piece of fish beneath his paw. "Yes. I don't know. I don't think we're even friends anymore." He shook his head. "We should probably take this back soon, right?" He was trying to change the subject so Alonzo wouldn't press for details, like Plato would.

Alonzo narrowed his eyes. "Yeah..." He said quietly, taking up a few packets and jumping down to the floor. Laying them down next to the rice, he looked up at Tumble. "Listen...don't think you're getting out of talking to me...it's just for now, okay?"

Tumble sighed. "You're as bad as Plato," he grumbled, before picking up the rest of the packets and jumping down beside his brother. "Are we going to bring any of this other stuff? We couldn't open any of it..."

"That's what older brothers are for," Alonzo replied, giving him a short half-smile. He looked around at the other packets. "Nah, the fish is enough, at least for now. We can always come back..." His eyes swept over the mess they had made. "Well, if my owner ever lets me back in, anyway."

Tumble looked around as well. He didn't see a mess - it looked a lot like the junkyard. A lot more... homey. "Why wouldn't she?" he asked, looking back at Alonzo. "We made it nicer in here."

"She's very strange, she likes to have things always the same way...boring." Alonzo shrugged. "Humans really are a mystery, Tumble." He started towards the cat flap, eager to return to the 'yard.

"I'll say," Tumble said, picking up his packets of fish and following Alonzo. "I don't see how you can possibly live with one. You must be a much more tolerant cat than me." Coming from the good-natured Tumblebrutus, that was saying a lot.

Alonzo shrugged. "It's warm and there's food," He said, "It's useful...and she's very nice." He slipped out the door, the cold already biting through his fur. "But I do spend most of my time at the 'yard, as you know..."

"Yeah, I suppose. Warm and food could be worth it." Tumble shrugged. "I like the yard, though. I like being near the tribe." He shivered at the difference between inside the house and outside. "Though the warmth is very nice..."

Alonzo gave a small laugh. "Yeah. I just never had a reason to be completely attatched to the tribe, until now. What with becoming Protector and Cassie..." He shook his head. "I might be moving in permanently soon."

"Not until winter ends, I hope," Tumble said, hefting the packets of fish. "We need your food." He smirked and nudged Alonzo. "Mind you, though, if you give me a hard time about Quaxo, I'm gonna return the favor with Cassandra."

Alonzo grinned, "I know." He quickened his pace as he caught sight of the fence that stood just before the junkyard, imagining the happiness of the kittens and the other Jellicles when they saw this feast...

Tumble kept up with Alonzo as they approached the junkyard, but then the wind shifted. He lifted his nose to take in the familiar scent of his home... but something was wrong. Something was very, very wrong. "Alonzo!"
