"I know you do," Alonzo replied gently, shifting the kitten to one of his arms so he could pat Etcetera gently on the head. "We all do."
He turned to Tumble now, with his paw still on Etcy's head. "Not for now. If Munkustrap isn't back soon, I'm going to send a patrol out to look for him."

"Umm... I don't think there's any blood. Wet cough." Munkustrap hadn't really looked at the queens before leaving. All he knew was what he heard, but he thought Burelle would be making a bit more of a fuss if there was something more serious, like blood.
Etcetera hugged 'Lonzo's leg again, squeezing her eyes shut.
Tumble nodded. "Let me know if you need me, then. I'll be with Quaxo." With that taken care of, he could turn back to the little tuxedo tom... his little tuxedo tom.

Cassandra still was resting her head on Alonzo, his shoulder was comfy, and his fur was soft. She let out a wide yawn.

"That's good, at least. Both of them... A wet cough implies an actual illness over a lung condition." Being a healer, he had picked up on more than a few things. Not to mention that his human never shut down the computer, and he had discovered how to work the mouse and tap out letters with a claw. He wondered if the girl ever noticed the scratches on either...?

Alonzo nodded to Tumble, and then turned back to Etcetera. It was times like this he almost wished Tugger was around: he, of all cats, could certainly cheer Etcy up. The queen was so young, it was hard for her to accept Pussine's death, moreso than Alonzo who had a better understanding of the situation.

"And you can heal actual illnesses, right?" Munkustrap said. "If they're still alive when we get back, you'll be able to cure them?" He didn't want to lose any more siblings, and hoped Deuteronomy wouldn't be able to read that from his mind the way he seemed able to read everything else.
Etcetera curled her paws into Alonzo's leg fur. "Leathik and Simeon and Aprilli and Mali aren't gonna die, is they?"
Tumble nuzzled Quaxo's cheek again. "Alonzo doesn't need me now, but he might if Munkus doesn't get back soon."

"Not if we can help it, Etcetera." He told her. "Old Deuteronomy is coming in soon to look at the kittens, he'll make sure they'll survive."

"Usually, yes, any illness is fairly easy." They were always easier than healing wounds; it was just a matter of expelling something rather than creating something new. "Just... A bit tricky. If it's serious, it might need two healings. But it shouldn't pose a problem."

"And if Old Deut can't do it, Mistokitty can," Etcetera said with a nod. "Mistokitty can do anything."
"Good," Munkustrap said with a weak smile. "I don't want any more kittens to die on my watch. This winter is miserable enough as it is."

"This isn't your fault, Munkustrap." Perhaps it didn't need to be said, but he'd say it anyway. "Some things just can't be helped... And neither you nor I can control the weather or the temperature or a kit's birth weight."

"It's just..." Munkustrap glanced over at Deuteronomy. "I mean..." He shook his head. There was nothing he could say to explain himself to Deuteronomy without risking too much information. "Nevermind," he ended up mumbling, staring at the ground as they walked. They were entering the junkyard now. It wouldn't be too much longer before he could lay down and warm up.

Deuteronomy was glad to be in the junkyard again... As much as he enjoyed the comforts of living with a human, being in strictly feline territory was good when it could be managed. He made his way to the piano, praying silently that he was not too late.

Munkustrap followed Deuteronomy into the piano, some of the stiffness having worked itself out during the walk back. He froze up slightly when the warmer air of the piano den wrapped around him, and he barely made it to the cushion he had been sharing lately with Bomba before collapsing with a groan. That felt much better.
Burelle looked up when Deuteronomy and Ritzkin appeared, and then she leaned down to nuzzle Aprilli and Mali. Neither of them had died yet. This was a good thing.

Cassandra sat down. "Etcy, would you like to hold the kitten for a moment?" She asked holding out the kitten. She wondered if it was a good idea, her tired arms said it was so she didn't pull the kitten back into her.
